2017 Auditions are Upon Us!
This weekend, LOUD returns!

It's almost time! Do you love radical queer youth theater? Are you passionate about the intersections of art and social justice? Do you want to make original work in a fabulous community of young artists? Are you between the ages of 14 and 21? Do you know someone who is? Then LOUD wants YOU!
LOUD is so excited to see everyone this weekend! We can't wait to see all the queer, trans and allied youth who are going to come out and show us what they're made of this weekend! All levels of performance and social justice experience are welcome and encouraged, so don't feel like you need to be an expert actor or activist to join! We're holding auditions to get a sense of who you are and what your skills and interests are. So come prepared to meet some fabulous prospective ensemble members and co-directors, and bring whatever skills or passions that you want us to see! Walk-ins welcome.
LOUD, formerly the New Orleans Queer Youth Theater, is an engaging space where LGBTQIA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual) youth and their allies can cultivate tools for self-expression, develop an intersectional analysis of oppression and build community through creating original devised theater. Our members are outspoken, unapologetic queer and trans* youth who come together in solidarity to build community and control the narratives shared about their lives. In a city with limited access to queer safe space, LOUD’s ensemble creates a much needed community in New Orleans. LOUD is guided by four core values: solidarity, undoing racism, devised theater and youth leadership.
LOUD produces one show a year that is developed through a rigorous, youth-led ensemble process, highlighting themes such as police violence, intersectional identity, combating injustice and building solidarity. After three years, three youth ensembles and three youth-devised productions including Beyond Acceptance, The Pursuit of Justice, and Thinking Out LOUD, LOUD is ready for its next year of bold queer theater!
